In the hands of young teenage phenom Kolohe Andino, the OG Sub Scorcher was a smash hit right from the start and has remained a custom mainstay ever since. With its mellow rocker, wide and stable outline, and shallow single to double tail vee, the Sub Scorcher is as easy to paddle, plan, and ride as any modern pointy-nosed shortboard.
Starting with the OG Sub Scorcher Swallow, we introduced the STING. We added a little width in the center, added rail rocker, and injected an area that significantly narrows the STING about 18 inches from the tail (upper quarter). The STING is followed by a gentle tail curve, creating a shallow 6-inch wide Swallow. The wider center width eases entry and ensures quick planing out of the gate. The STING significantly narrows the width, creating a sharper angle for jamming fast, radical, controlled turns into tight sections or onto the open face of a wave.
The SUB SCORCHER-STING is a playful performance shortboard that everyone can enjoy, and the STING's design elements make it easy to initiate radical turns and maneuvers.
